Matting

If there is matting found during the groom, then the desired look may not be achieveable, and the pet may need to be clipped very short.
Matts cannot always be brushed out and the process of brushing can cause pain and suffering to the pet. Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal, therefore, I will only attempt to de-matt for a maximum of 15 minutes. When matts cannot be brushed out, the only option is to shave close to the skin, underneath the matt. Though this results in a short coat, if the pet is regularly brushed going forward then the coat will soon grow back and be kept in a good matt-free condition.
If you do not want your dog being clipped short due to matts then the groom will either not go ahead or will cease. If the groom has started then you will be charged up to the point of stopping. Please be aware that matts can cause skin irritation, they can cause pain as the matt gets tighter and they can also hide underlying sores, hot spots and parasites. Removal of ear matts can cause bruising and bleeding due to the excessive head shaking after the removal of the matt that can occur.

Unfortunately, the process of shaving the matts out takes its toll on the blades and takes more time. Therefore, there will be an additional cost which will be discussed at the groom.

Fleas

If your dog has fleas, they will need to go in the bath straight away to be able to remove the fleas from the coat. An extra cost of £8 will be added to the groom price to cover the cost of the flea shampoo used along with the extra cleaning and disinfecting required after your departure to avoid fleas being transferred to other dogs. Please ensure you take the approriate action to get rid of the fleas from your dogs coat and environment before their next appointment. Recurring issues with fleas may result in your groom being refused.

Cancellation

I understand that cancellations do happen for various reasons. However, a mix of any 2 no shows or 2 cancellations in less than 24 hours notice may result in no further bookings being taken unless the full cost of the groom is paid for prior to the next appointment. Notifying under 24 hours makes it less likely I am able to fill the slot resulting in a loss of wages, therefore, if you need to cancel your appointment, please give as much notice as possible.

Arrival & Collection

You will receive a reminder around 48 hours before your appointment which will contain the time and date of the appointment. If you do not show up on time, you will be contacted after 15 minutes. If there is no response within 5 minutes (20 minutes after initial appointment time), then your appointment will be cancelled as it will run into my next appointment. This will be classed as a no show in relation to my cancellation policy.

I will arrange a collection time with you on drop off. You will have 15 minutes after this time to collect your dog. If the dog is not collected then for every 15 minutes the dog is with myself, you will be charged an extra £5 as it may cause me to reschedule the next dog due. I am a 1-1 groomer so I can only have 1 household in at a time. I do not have crates to keep your dog in.

Other

The groom price may increase due to the following reasons:
-
Fleas or other parasites found
-
Matted coat
-
Dog is aggressive and I require assistance
-
Coat has not been kept on a regular schedule - the longer the coat, the longer it takes to groom

I am a One-to-One Groomer. The only time I will have more than 1 dog in the salon is if they come from the same household and they behave well enough to be in the salon together. You are welcome to bring a dog bed or something familiar for them to lay in whilst waiting for their turn.

As I work from home in a residential area, any dogs that are consistently noisy may be advised to find an alternative groomer out of respect for my neighbours.

If your female dog comes into season prior the appointment, please let me know as soon as possible so we can discuss the groom and potential rescheduling (cancellation policy may not be applicable)

The client agrees that I have the right to stop the groom at any point with the welfare of the dog coming first.

Any concerns and/or injuries that are believed to have happened due to the grooming procedure must be notified to myself within 48 hours of the groom, and if necessary, a vet report must be provided to myself for insurance purposes. All vet reports must be created less than 48 working hours of the groom, any veterinary treatment out of this time frame without reason will not be covered.

I am required to obtain and store the personal information provided by yourself and only the necessary information is obtained. This information is required should any insurance claims or veterinary treatments be required. The information will be stored in line with legislation.
